Introducing Alexia Lahoud: The 29er Class’s New Media Manager

The International 29er Class Association is delighted to welcome Alexia Lahoud since September 2024 as the new part-time Media Manager for the class. With a rich background in sailing, watersports, and media, Alexia brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the
29er community.

Alexia’s journey in the sailing world began at Duotone in Tenerife, where she immersed herself in watersports, mastering windsurfing, wing foiling, surfing, and kitesurfing while connecting with enthusiasts and professionals in the industry. Her love for the ocean and passion for storytelling naturally led her to a role with Team Malizia, where she served as Social Media Manager during high profile events like the Azimut Race, Route du Rhum, and the opening stages of The Ocean Race. Building on these experiences, Alexia transitioned to her role as full-time Media Manager for the 49er, 49erFX, and Nacra 17 classes. Over the past year, she has covered major international competitions, including the Paris 2024 Olympics, engaging sailors and fans alike with her vibrant and authentic content.

Born in Italy to American and Lebanese parents, Alexia grew up with a global outlook, attending a French school before earning a degree in Biomedical Science from King’s College London. She  is fluent in English, Italian, French, and Spanish, and also speaks conversational Arabic and
Papiamento—a skill set that reflects her ability to connect with the diverse international sailing community.

Now based in Aruba, in the Dutch Caribbean, Alexia continues to embrace watersports and travel, bringing her expertise and creative energy to every event she covers. Beyond her media work, she is a talented artist who has painted custom helmets and surfboards for Olympic athletes, showcasing her creative flair.

As the new Media Manager for the 29er class, Alexia will work to expand the class’s media presence, connecting sailors, coaches, and fans through compelling stories and event coverage.

Her responsibilities will also include updating and maintaining the class website, writing articles and newsletters, managing social media platforms, creating graphics, and more. Additionally, Alexia is leading the development of a comprehensive photo and video archive for the class using Smugmug. This innovative platform will organize and tag all visual content, ensuring it is preserved and easily accessible for years to come.

The 29er Class is thrilled to have Alexia join the team and looks forward to the impact of her passion, creativity, and expertise. Welcome aboard, Alexia!
