Riva del Garda, July 3, 2025

Fast Start in Riva del Garda: Three Races Complete for All Fleets

The 2025 29er European Championship launched in spectacular fashion today, as over 250 teams from 29 nations took to the waters of Lake Garda for three full races in ideal conditions. Despite light wind forecasts, the breeze filled in beautifully, allowing all fleets to complete their scheduled races on time.

The event is proudly sponsored by Kidzink, whose support is not only helping make the regatta possible but is also enriching the experience far beyond the racecourse through a series of hands-on workshops and youth-driven sustainability initiatives.

Five Teams Share the Top Spot After Day 1

Switzerland’s Ikke Huber and Liam Berger headline the provisional rankings after going undefeated in the Green fleet, winning all three races to end the day on 2 points. The pair credited their heavier crew weight as an advantage in the day’s gustier Garda breeze.

Tied with them on points are Lucas and Moritz Hamm of Germany—twin brothers who also benefited from the conditions, putting in a solid performance. Fellow Germans Tizian and Julian Lembeck sit just behind, making it a strong showing for Germany on Day 1.

Also tied on 2 points are Jocelyn Le Goff and Jules Vidor of France, and Nicklas Holt and Philip Forslund from Norway. All five teams managed two race wins, but only Huber and Berger were able to sweep the day.

Italy’s Giuseppe Montesano and Enrico Coslovich were the top national team in 6th, while France’s Alexandre Mostini and Raphaël Allain are close behind. Dutch duo Lenny Hofman and Rik Dieperink placed 8th, with Austria’s Moritz and Felix Schauer and New Zealand’s Will Leech and William Mason rounding out the top 10.

Kidzink Eco-Hub Workshop Unites Sailors from Across the Globe

While the racing was fierce on the water, the atmosphere onshore was just as vibrant. Today saw the first session of the Kidzink Floating Eco-Hub Workshop, where young sailors from different countries teamed up in newly formed international groups to tackle environmental challenges through creativity and collaboration.

Hosted by Kidzink, the workshop was a celebration of unity, sustainability, and youthful innovation. Sailors explored themes of ocean health, eco-conscious sailing, and community impact—all in a hands-on, inclusive setting. It was inspiring to see athletes who usually compete head-to-head, now brainstorming shoulder-to-shoulder.

This is just the first of several sessions planned throughout the week, all part of Kidzink’s mission to create a meaningful and memorable event experience. Their involvement is not only elevating the event's sustainability profile but also helping foster a truly international community spirit—something that makes the 29er Class so unique.
