The 2025 29er World Championships have officially begun in the vibrant city of Porto, with Day 1 of registration now complete and sailors from around the globe gathering to compete in one of the most dynamic youth sailing events of the year. With anticipation high and the Opening Ceremony set to take place tomorrow, the atmosphere is electric on and off the water.
But even as we dive into a thrilling week of racing here in Portugal, the international 29er community is already looking ahead — and there's big news for next year.
The 2026 29er World Championships, originally planned for later in the summer, will now take place from July 2nd to July 9th, 2026 in Kiel, Germany. This date change is important for teams, supporters, and organizers around the world, so we encourage everyone to mark their calendars early and start preparations for what promises to be another unforgettable regatta on the iconic Baltic coast.
Kiel, with its deep sailing heritage and world-class race management, is sure to deliver an incredible event in 2026 — but for now, it’s time to focus on the present, as Porto welcomes the best 29er sailors on the planet for a week of fierce competition and unforgettable memories.
