Carnon, France – April 17, 2025
The CER Pôle Espoirs Voile Occitanie is thrilled to welcome sailors and spectators to the inaugural Carnon 29er Eurocup, hosted at the Yacht Club Mauguio Carnon from April 16 to 20, 2025.
Day 1: A Challenging Start Under Tramontane Skies
The opening day of racing kicked off under dramatic conditions, as the powerful tramontane—a strong, dry wind from inland—delayed the action until late in the day. By 4:20 p.m., however, conditions settled enough for competitors to hit the water for their first races.
The 112 registered teams were divided into three fleets—Yellow, Blue, and Purple—spread across two race areas. Each fleet successfully completed three thrilling and highly technical races, marked by shifty winds that challenged even the most seasoned crews.
The wind began from the northwest at 20 knots, accompanied by a light chop, but gradually dropped in both strength and stability, demanding constant adaptation and strategic finesse from the sailors. Consistency and responsiveness proved to be the keys to success on this first day of racing.
French and Italian crews rose to the occasion, delivering strong performances right out of the gate.

Today’s highlight off the water? A lively Lyonnaise boules initiation session, hosted by a guest from the French Boules Federation—just one of many unique activities planned throughout the week.
