EUROCUP #3 - Day 1 report |
|
With 30 boats ready to race, we had 3 nice races at Workum, Netherlands for the first day of the 29er Eurocup.
Starting with 12 knots from the W racing up to 14 for the last race. During the day we saw an extremely fast boat upwind in Fisher Kevin and Glen Gouron from France, it looks like they are quite confident with hopes that they are going to win the worlds because they are sailing with the FRA 1 on their sail.......
Also the German team Schmidt Justus & Max Boehme had a good day with a 4, 1, 3 for the last race, and completing the third step of the podium we have another French team, the brothers Nicolas & Julian Chateau.
The event is really well organized, we still have more to see and 3 days to finish the regatta.

EuroCup #1 - Fisher-Guillou and Gouron Win |
The first 29er Eurocup of the season took place during the Easter week-end in Cavalaire, France, and turned out to be a big success. Ten races got sailed in rather windy conditions (25 knots on the first day to 5-10 knots the last one). Sixty-one competitors from eight countries (FRA, DEN, GER, NED, ESP, SUI, ITA, NOR) had come to the French Riviera to enjoy its famous sunny climate. Though some nations had obviously forgotten to put the event on their agenda, the level was still very good. Kévin Fisher-Guillou and Glenn Gouron, the French sailors who had won the Kieler Week last year, outdid their opponents with eight victories! A great number of experienced teams were present though: the Danes for instance with Jeppe and Soren Dybkjar Ditter in second place and the girls Ida Marie Baad Nielsen and Marie Olsen in eighth. The Dutch Europeans bronze medallists Mark Walraven and Kaj Bocker are in third place.
