Costa Brava Clinic & Regatta scheduled for June 29-July 3 (Clinic will be held June 39-30 with racing to follow July 1-3)

We have reached a magnificent agreement with the Spanish Federation by which we can count with the participation of 5 29er teams in the Ballena 9er Cup clinic + regatta, which were scheduled to hold a stage to prepare the coming ISAF Worlds and Europeans.
 
Besides having the best 29er Spanish sailors, we will have the presence of Alejandro Abascal, who will lead the trainings. A fantastic opportunity to learn from who is considered the best skiff coach in the world, a true high performance specialist.
 
For those who don’t know who Abascal is: World Champion in Vaurien Class, Gold Medal in Flying Dutchman in Moscow 1980, Olympic participant in Star in Los Angeles 1984, coach of the 49er Gold and Silver medallists Iker Martinez and Xabi Fernandez, Director of the Spanish Olympic Team…
 
Apart from the mentioned teams, we have already reached the first entries, which makes us think of a good participation. For those who are interested in sailing in 29erXS and do not have own rig, I recommend you to make reservations as soon as possible because there will only be a limited number of rigs available for charter.

Luis Ródenas and Juan Miguel Martínez from Alicante were the overall winners of the Spanish Championship of the 29er class held at the Club Nautic Garraf close to Barcelona from April 20th to 23rd.
Laura and Marta Capdevila (Canary Islands) won the overall women’s title with a 9th overall position, while Carlos Robles/Florian Trittel (Team Movistar from Cataluña) showed to be the best youth team finishing third overall.
24 boats from 6 autonomic regions took part at the two days races, because on the first day all races had to be cancelled due to a storm with winds up to 31 knots. On day two wind speeds still showed 17-25 knots. The third day showed calm conditions with 5-7 knots only. Because of that, only 6 races could be held out of a total of 12 planned.
Luis Ródenas/ Juan Miguel Martínez took title honours with a total of 11 points leading Victor Payá/Álvaro del Arco from Santander second with 13 and Carlos Robles/Florian Trittel from CN El Balís third with 15 points.  Results

Gael Jaffrezic and Julien Bloyet bested the 71 boat fleet in Cavalaire, France over the Easter weekend to take the title.  One point behind them were Ida Baad Nielsen and Christian Lubeck from Denmark with fellow Danes Mads Lubeck and Marie Thusgaard Olsen in third.
