At the ISAF annual conference in Athens last November, it was agreed by the 29er Class executive, the licensed builders and the Class technical committee to introduce an adjustable forestay fitting to the 29er.
A Class specific fitting has been designed – This design includes a slot to allow for an ‘event seal’ of the forestay. The forestay may be adjusted to meet the tolerance as set out in Class rule C.9.3 and then sealed by the event measurer.
Twenty four 29ers have been supplied to the Youth Worlds in Zadar, Croatia, with this new fitting.
Each forestay had been matched to a mast, adjusted to the exact mid range of the tolerance and then sealed from source.
This insures an even more accurate level of ‘One design’ product for the future, an even more level playing field for those athletes attending the Youth Worlds and may be in time a reduction in the tolerance required.
This new fitting is Class permitted as from the first of July 2011.
